Another Day, Another Warp

I managed to finish weaving the second scarf warp today...a day late, but now it is done and I need to decide how to do the last warp.
The yarn I have left.
It's obvious that I will be using the fawn (lightest brown) in the warp.  The first warp had the fawn with the dark brown, so I am thinking fawn with stripes of gray.  I think I will do a straight twill and a point twill on the scarves.  Because I am tying the new warp on the old, it will be using the same threading...a straight draw through eight shafts.  I need to plan the stripes to fall with the point in the middle of them...then I could do some diamonds in the design.  That should work well.  I will have to think about that because the number of warp threads in each stripe will be critical.  I can mess with that on the worksheet tonight.

Second scarf on the second warp.
The second warp is the brown with gray stripes.  I wove one scarf with the brown and one with the gray.  On the third warp there will probably need to be a couple of colors in the weft to use up all the yarn.  Do I have enough to weave most of one scarf in one color?  We'll see...

I started the narrow lace on my little traveling pillow.  I like that pillow and I can sit anywhere and work on it.
First try on the left, new one in the middle and matching lace on the right,
I'm not sure how much smaller the new lace is from the original first try, but the ground looks better.  I probably could have reduced it further, but I am not going the change now.  This will have to do.  So now I will have a frill, a wide lace and a narrow lace that all coordinate. Nice idea, but I have already started looking at another yardage lace to trim a dress I want to make from some handwoven fabric.  But on an everyday dress for me, the lace needs to be smaller than the narrow one here.  This one is just over half an inch.  I don't think I can wear that much lace.  I'm thinking something about a quarter of an inch.  No...don't think about the "next" one, just enjoy the work on this one.  Enjoy the work you are doing and finish it up instead of jumping to the next one.

The trees are by the front door, but the lights are not connected yet.

    1. Nice tie-in to your present interest! But when you do the lace, you interlace the threads then put the pin in them to hold it...I don't have to work between the pins!

  2. I am curious about your lace pillow...did you make it or can you tell me where you bought it?

    1. This is the travel pillow I got from Snowgoose many years ago. I think the base is a circle on his current model, which might be better to balance the bobbins on.
